Leo Health Focus This August – Tips to Keep Your Energy High
Why I Needed This Energy Boost
Okay, real talk? August hit me hard. Like, dragging-my-feet, need-three-coffees-just-to-open-my-eyes hard. After work? Forget it. Couch potato city. Felt totally wiped, you know? Couldn’t keep up with anything fun. Figured this needed fixing, so I declared August my personal “Leo Energy Month.” No fancy plans, just testing stuff out.
My Breakfast Game-Changer
First step: tackled the mornings. Used to grab coffee, sometimes skip food entirely. Disaster mode. Felt shaky and grumpy by 10 AM. Started forcing myself to actually make breakfast. Simple stuff! Like scrambling two eggs with a handful of spinach thrown in right at the end. Total game-changer. That little bit of protein and greens kept me steady till lunch. No more mid-morning energy crash!
Ditching the Afternoon Snooze Button
Next battle: the 3 PM slump. Dead zone. My usual fix was sugary snacks or more coffee. Just made me jittery then crash harder. So, I tried moving my body instead. Seriously, nothing crazy! When I felt that fog rolling in, I’d stand up from my desk. Walked outside for literally just five minutes – around the block, up and down the stairs a few times. Maybe some simple stretches by my window if weather sucked. Getting sunlight and blood pumping made a HUGE difference. Came back feeling awake, not wired.
Fridge Snack Attack Rescue
Snacking was killing me too. Grabbing chips, cookies, whatever was easiest (and worst). Made me feel sluggish. Decided to do a quick fridge rescue mission. Every Sunday now, I spend maybe 10 minutes:
- Wash a bunch of grapes or berries.
- Chop celery, carrots, bell peppers into sticks.
- Hard-boil half a dozen eggs.
Jammed them all into clear containers at the front of the fridge. Suddenly, when hunger strikes, good stuff is RIGHT THERE. Easy win for energy!
The Unexpected Hydration Hero
Water. I knew it was important, but boring? Yeah. Tried forcing myself to drink glasses all day and just hated it. Felt like a chore. Then I grabbed this giant old water bottle I had from some race. Filled it up once in the morning. Seeing it on my desk was a constant reminder. Somehow, sipping from a straw all day long felt way less annoying than pouring glass after glass. Ended up drinking way more without even thinking about it! Big surprise benefit.
Sticking to It (Mostly!)
Was it perfect? Heck no. Got lazy one weekend, skipped the veggie chop. Paid for it Monday afternoon with a chocolate bar binge. Felt awful. But seeing how much better I felt when I did stick with it was the best motivator. Waking up feeling actually rested, not feeling dead after work? Priceless. Still keeping the water bottle close and trying to prep those snacks. It’s not about being perfect, just way better than couch potato Leo. Feels good!
